Health and Wellbeing Week

Scoil Dara ran a Health and Wellbeing Week (9 - 13 October) which coincided with 'World Mental Health Day' on 10 October. The aim of the week was to create awareness around mental health, promote health and wellbeing, as well as adding to the positive atmosphere of the school. A Schedule of Activities was planned for the week. Thanks to all involved in co-ordinating and promoting the week's activities. Click here to view the Schedule of Activities.

European Day of Languages

There were many activities organised in Scoil Dara as part of ‘European Day of Languages’ at the end of September. Some of the activities included students making announcements in their native language; sampling food from some of the students native countries; making posters with greetings in various languages; competitions, quizzes, games, songs, movies, presentations, discussions in various languages and much more!

TY Enterprise Students – Awards

Well done to the following TY Enterprise students who won awards at Athlone and Lucan PDST competitions in May. Michael Daly: ‘Tallon and Daly’ – voted most likely to succeed as an entrepreneur in the Athlone PDST competition. Oisin Sloane, Daithi Marron & Ross Gill: ‘Woodland Decorations’ handmade wooden garden furniture. Won awards for Sustainability and Presentation. Oisin Egan, Adam Flynn & David Burke: ‘Dream It’ - an educational card game. Won an award for Quality. Caoimhe Tate Shaw , Deirbhile Tate Shaw & Lisa McGrath: ‘Sixth Scents’ - homemade candles. Won an award for Accounts. Cian Heffernan: ‘Homemade Heaven’ - protein snacks. Won an award for quality and also won a place in the National Final in May.

The month of la Francophonie

There were many activities organised during the month of March by the French Subject Department as part of ‘month of la Francophone’. Some of the activities included a taste of a French/Belgium movie (with some croissants); a French Karaoke; French board games and quizzes with some crèpes and other baked delights and a colourful display board of information on some 20 different French speaking countries.
