On 14th March the TY Enterprise Class opened Scoil Dara Bank of Ireland School Bank for all Students. The bank is a fully functional bank with a committee of TY Students.

Seachtain na Gaeilge ran from 1st - 17th March 2017. Scoil Dara's Irish Department undertook a number of activities in the school to celebrate this occasion. Activities included poster competitions, quizzes, gearrscannáin, a céilí with some year groups and events finished with a "Lá Ceilteach" on March 16th. This took the form of a "No Uniform Day" and students entered into the spirit of the occasion and wore something green for the day. We encourage all staff and students to try and speak Irish when they can. "Tír le teanga, tír le hanam!" There were prizes for best effort and €1,007.81 was raised on the day for St. Vincent de Paul in Kilcock and Jigsaw from our non-uniform day organised by our TY students in 4C & 4D. Well done everyone!

The 20th Annual World Book Day, Ireland’s largest celebration of books and reading, took place on 2nd March 2017. Students in Scoil Dara were invited to take part in a range of events. The school library hosted book reviews, podcasts and competitions to mark the occasion and book tokens were distributed.

Scoil Dara Parents Association hosted a careers night in Scoil Dara on 1st March. It was a very informative night for students and parents with 40 professionals available on the night to advise on career paths. Talks were also given by numerous colleges on the night. Feedback received has been very positive.

There is a new Exam Revision Section in the school's library. A number of study guides are now on display for both junior and senior subjects. Also in the library three new computers are now available to students for research purposes.

A Study Skills Workshop took place in the school for our 1st Year Students on 7th February. The students were introduced to the whole concept of learning and how it links to their brain and memory. The programme covered various study skills including time management, organisation and effective homework habits. A corresponding ‘Parent Power Workshop’ was held on the same evening for parents of all year groups. Feedback received was very positive from both workshops.

The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2017 was 'Caring for our common home'. Various activities took place in the school throughout that week.

The theme for Anti Bullying Awareness Week 2017 is ‘We are better without bullying’. Various activities will take place in the school throughout this week.

On 24th January Maynooth University in association with the Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland presented the following students with awards for ‘Excellence in Junior Certificate Business Studies’. Well done to both students. - Aisling Connaughton - David Burke
