To conclude Library Week 2016, Laura Cassidy, a local author is visiting the school Monday Dec 5th. This is the second year running that Laura will return to the school to inspire students to become more creative in their writing. We are grateful to Kilcock Library, especially librarian Mary Dunne for making the arrangements for these workshops to take place and part funding the event.

On Monday 23rd May, Niall Phelan from the Rye River Brewing Company kindly visited the fifth year LCVP students and spoke to them about his enterprise. It was a highly informative and enjoyable talk.

The Mary Griffin Golf Tournament took place on Wednesday 25th May. This is an annual golf outing where students compete against teachers (both past and present) for the coveted Claret Jug on display in the school trophy cabinet. Since the competition's inception in 2011 the students have dominated the event, winning four titles. Well done to all participants. We congratulate our students on their victory!

Former Scoil Dara Head Boy, Ose Oifoh, visited the school on Thursday 7th April last to present to 5th year LCVP students. He spoke to the students on the topic of the transition from school to college and the world of work. Ose's talk was exceptionally well received by all who attended.

On Monday, March 7th, Gregory Merrin of the Peter Mc Verry Trust spoke to Transition-Year students on homelessness in Ireland. His visit was arranged by the TY students as part of their YSI project.

Scoil Dara's ‘Fidget Widget’ enterprise group , with members Aoibhinn Wrenn , Aine Roberts and Gearoid Gibbons, represented the school in the Griffith College Enterprise final competition on Tuesday 8th March.
They were one of 12 groups selected from 85 entrants nationwide.

On Tuesday the 15th of March Scoil Dara will celebrate Proclamation Day in style. All staff and students are encouraged to dress in the fashions of 1916.There will be prizes for the most authentic costume on the day. Students will also take part in a re-enactment of the 1916 rising. There will be a reading of the proclamation followed by the raising of the Irish flag.
