It is a pleasure to welcome you to our school’s website. Ours is a happy school where learning, growing and caring are the key concerns and activities of students and staff. In Scoil Dara we value openness and collaboration. Through our website we want to acquaint you with our school, its history, values and mission. We want to introduce you to our students, staff and Board of Management. In your browsing you will be briefed on our school policies, the different programmes we offer in the school and the range of subjects we provide for our students. We want to share our successes and celebrations with you.

11.20am – 1.20pm (2 hours):        TY and 5th year (inc. LCA-1)

The school will close to students on March 10th to accommodate the above meetings.

Anti-Bullying Workshop for 1st Years

An Anti Bullying Workshop facilitated by Jim Harding and Kevin Deering from Bully4U will take place on Tuesday 28th February for first-year students. More details can be found on their website at


Careers Night – 1st March

Scoil Dara Parents Association will be hosting a careers night in Scoil Dara on Wednesday, 1st March at 7.30pm. It promises to be a very informative night for students and parents with 40 professionals available to advise on career paths. There will also be talks given by numerous colleges on the night. Please put this date in your diary. 

World Book Day 2017 – 2nd March 2017

The 20th Annual World Book Day, Ireland’s largest celebration of books and reading, will take place on Thursday 2nd March 2017. Students in Scoil Dara are invited to take part in a range of events. The school library will host book reviews, podcasts and competitions to mark the occasion. Book tokens are available from the English Department and the Library.

Exam Revision

There is a new Exam Revision Section in the school's library. A number of study guides are now on display for both junior and senior subjects. Also in the library three new computers are now available to students for research purposes.

Study Skills Workshop / Parent Power Workshop

A Study Skills Workshop took place in the school for our 1st Year Students on 7th February. The students were introduced to the whole concept of learning and how it links to their brain and memory. The programme covered various study skills including time management, organisation and effective homework habits. A corresponding ‘Parent Power Workshop’ was held on the same evening for parents of all year groups. Feedback received was very positive from both workshops.

On 24th January Maynooth University in association with the Business Studies Teachers Association of Ireland presented the following students with awards for ‘Excellence in Junior Certificate Business Studies’. Well done to both students. - Aisling Connaughton - David Burke
