It is a pleasure to welcome you to our school’s website. Ours is a happy school where learning, growing and caring are the key concerns and activities of students and staff. In Scoil Dara we value openness and collaboration. Through our website we want to acquaint you with our school, its history, values and mission. We want to introduce you to our students, staff and Board of Management. In your browsing you will be briefed on our school policies, the different programmes we offer in the school and the range of subjects we provide for our students. Phone Free Day

Phone Free Day for students and staff on Wednesday December 7th next. Scoil Dara is promoting the day as a chance for students, in this season of goodwill, to avail of the opportunity to reach out to others and spend time talking and connecting with others.

 

Daniel Kyne: DCU Academic Scholarship Award Recipient

 Congratulations to Daniel Kyne who received an Academic Scholarship Award from Dublin City University on November 30th last, for his outstanding achievements in his Leaving Certificate 2016. Daniel is studying for a BSc in Marketing, Innovation and Technology in DCU.

 

Sarah McCarthy: MU Award Recipient

Congratulations to Sarah McCarthy who received an Entrance Scholarships Award from Maynooth University on November 8th last, for her outstanding achievements in her Leaving Certificate 2016. Sarah is studying Primary Education in Maynooth University.

 

Aidan Chan - Winner of Fr. Frank Maher Award

Congratulations to Aidan Chan, a Sixth Year student at Scoil Dara, who won the prestigious Fr. Frank Maher Classical Music Award on Friday 11th November. The competition was held in the Royal College of Physicians in Dublin and is Ireland’s largest classical music competition for secondary schools. Scoil Dara wishes Aidan the very best for the future.

Caoimhe Shiel - Kildare Camogie U16 Player of the Year


Congratulations to Caoimhe Shiel, 5th year, who received the award of Kildare Camogie U16 Player of the Year. She was presented with her award at a function in Kilcock GAA last Thursday 10th November. Caoimhe, who plays her club camogie with Kilcock, has displayed an exceptional level of skill, dedication and commitment consistently throughout the year. Well done from all at Scoil Dara Caoimhe!

Scoil Dara Library Visit by Local Author


 To conclude Library Week 2016, Laura Cassidy, a local author is visiting the school Monday Dec 5th. This is the second year running that Laura will return to the school to inspire students to become more creative in their writing. We are grateful to Kilcock Library, especially librarian Mary Dunne for making the arrangements for these workshops to take place and part funding the event.

Cashless payment available in School Cafeteria


Students and parents interested in availing of the cashless payment option in the school's cafeteria are advised to request a FOB from the staff in the school's cafeteria. Instructions on use of the FOB are attached with the FOB card. Parents may 'pre-load' the card for dedicated spend in the school cafeteria.

Maynooth University Awards


On 17th October Maynooth University rewarded the following 6th year students (vouchers worth €75 each) for achieving the highest grades in the summer exams 2016. Well done to all students.

Dragon's Den comes to Scoil Dara


Entrepreneur and businessman Bobby Kerr, Chairperson of Insomnia Coffee Company visited Scoil Dara on Wednesday 5th October to speak to  senior business students about his own business journey and to advise any aspiring entrepreneurs. There wasn't a sound or movement in the room for 40 minutes, as the students hung onto his every word!
